Feature update

### Race & Ethnicity Data Collection: Building More Inclusive Events

At Run This, we believe the future of racing is community-focused and inclusive—and we’re committed to leading the way.

The new **Race & Ethnicity Data Collection** feature gives race directors the option to gather participant demographics during registration. It’s private, optional, and designed to help you better understand who’s showing up at your events.

This feature was inspired by conversations with **local running community leaders** we work with regularly and by discussions at the **US Trail Running Conference**, where inclusivity and representation took center stage. Both moments underscored the importance of providing directors with tools that reflect and support the diversity of their communities.

Run This continues to lead the way in helping race directors create events that bring people together—events that welcome every runner and celebrate every story. We’re proud to build features that make that possible.

### What this does

When enabled, registration includes an optional dropdown for race and ethnicity with preset options, including Prefer Not To Say and Other. If a participant selects Other, they can enter their own response.

The field is off by default and optional for participants.

### Why it matters

Representation starts with understanding who is showing up. Insight into participation helps directors improve outreach, identify gaps, and celebrate progress toward events that truly welcome everyone.

This question is never required, but the data can guide smarter, more inclusive decisions across the racing community.

### How to enable

Go to your Edit Event page. In Other Options, toggle Collect Race/Ethnicity Data.

Available now for all race directors on Run This.
