Welcome to the La Llorona Run, a SummerWeen race inspired by one of the most haunting legends in Mexican and Latin American folklore.

According to legend, La Llorona—the Weeping Woman—wanders near the water searching for her lost children, her cries carrying along rivers and shorelines.

On Sunday, May 16, we're bringing the legend to the Long Beach waterfront for a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon.

You'll race along a flat, fast beach path with the Pacific Ocean beside you and the legend of La Llorona following close behind.

Come chase a PR. Come for the medal. Come dressed for the legend.

Just don't follow the crying toward the water. 👻🌊

Costumes are encouraged—La Llorona, ghostly whites, spirits, folklore creatures and all things SummerWeen.
