FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2026, PARTICIPANTS IN THE HIKE-a-THON ARE CHALLENGED TO WALK, HIKE, AND/OR RUN THE DISTANCE OF A MARATHON (26.2 miles) AT THEIR OWN PACE Completed miles can be logged separately over multiple days OR the distance can be completed all at one time.  Miles can be done solo OR with a group Miles can be done in the location(s) of your choosing.   However, we do encourage participants to come out & visit us at the Woodlands Preserve! You can begin logging your daily miles and activity (hike, walk, run) at 6 a.m. on October 1, 2026 when the RunSignup software will be ready to track your progress. Proceeds from the 2026 Hike-a-Thon will benefit the Woodlands Conservancy land trust that was organized in 2001 to preserve and restore vital parcels of forested wetlands and other lands of ecological or historical significance. Louisiana has lost 80% of its forested wetlands that protect our community during storm events and provide habitat for wildlife and thousands of migratory birds.
