About This Policy

Run This, LLC ("Run This," "us," "we," or "our") operates runthis.run and a mobile application and other cloud-based services we may make available for your use (collectively, the "Site"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information we receive from users of the Site. Your use of the Site constitutes your acknowledgement of, and consent to, this Privacy Policy.

Run This is more than a social platform: it is also a registration and payment platform for real-world endurance events. That dual nature matters throughout this Policy — some information you give us is account and profile data you control, and some is a transaction record created when you register for an event, which we and the event organizers retain for business, legal, tax, and safety reasons as described below.

Our Commitment to Privacy

Thank you for using Run This. Your privacy is important to us, and we prefer a minimalistic approach to collecting information from you. We do not store your full payment card numbers on our servers, we do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone other than: (a) the sponsoring organization (sometimes called the Event Owner) and the Event Director (collectively, the “Event Organization” or “Race Director”) for the Events you register for or RSVP to through Run This; (b) the service providers who help us operate the Site, as described in “Sharing Your Information With Third Parties”; and (c) as otherwise expressly described in this Privacy Policy.

We do not control, and are not responsible for, the policies and practices of the Event Organization, or the conduct of other users or participants to whom the Event Organization gives access to our Site, with respect to their handling of your information and content. The Event Organization independently determines how it uses the registration information you provide to it. For information about an Event Organization’s practices and policies, please contact them directly.

The Information We Collect

When you create an account on Run This, we collect information about you, which may include: your name, username, city/state, email address, date of birth (used for event age categories), and gender (also used for event categories). You may optionally add a profile photo, a header image, and a short bio. Together we call this your “Profile Information.”

When you register for an event, complete a profile for participation, or use certain features, we may also collect additional information such as your mailing address, phone number, emergency contact, USA Triathlon (or similar) membership number, answers to organizer-defined registration questions, waiver acknowledgements, and giveaway or merchandise selections. Some of this information is sensitive, so we store it in a protected area of your account that is readable only by you (and is copied into your event registrations as described below) rather than on your public profile.

If you use a contact form on the Site — for example, the “contact the event director” form on an event page — we collect the name, email address, and message you submit. You do not need an account to use these forms. We deliver contact-the-director messages to the event’s lead organizer (so they can reply to you directly) and retain a copy as an audit record so we can operate the feature, investigate abuse, and resolve disputes.

Information Event Organizations provide about past participants. An Event Organization that ran its race on another registration platform before joining Run This may bring that race’s history with it, so its past years appear alongside the years it runs here. Those records come from the organization’s own participant list and typically include a participant’s name and email address, and may include date of birth, gender, mailing address, phone number, bib number, shirt or merchandise selection, answers to that race’s registration questions, and what was paid. We did not collect this information from you directly; the Event Organization collected it when you registered for its race, and it remains that organization’s participant record. If the email address on such a record matches a Run This account, we link the record to that account so your email preferences are applied to it — the record does not appear among your own registrations on the Site. To have your information removed from a race’s participant history, contact that Event Organization or contact us and we will help.

We use your Profile Information to operate the Site, interact with you, provide support, and help create a safe community for our users. You can view, update, or correct your information at any time from your profile, and you can delete your account as described in “Data Retention and Account Deletion.”

Information We Automatically Collect

Like many site operators, we collect information that your browser or device sends whenever you use the Site (“Log Data”). Log Data may include your device’s Internet (“IP”) address, browser type and version, the pages of our Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, time spent on those pages, device type, operating system, approximate location, and device identifiers. We use Log Data to manage, operate, secure, and improve the Site, and we do not share it except as described in this Privacy Policy.

We use third-party analytics providers, and we may develop our own tools, to collect, monitor, and analyze usage. Some of this measurement happens in your browser and some is reported from our servers using a pseudonymous identifier, so our statistics stay accurate. We also use an error-monitoring service that records diagnostic information — which can include IP address, device and browser details, and the technical context of an error — so we can detect and fix problems. These services help us operate and improve the Site and do not receive your name.

Advertising

We use advertising and measurement tools from Meta Platforms, Inc. (the Meta Pixel) on our website, to understand how people find and use Run This and to deliver relevant advertisements across Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta services. These tools collect information such as the pages you visit, actions you take (for example, creating an account, searching, starting a checkout, or completing a purchase or donation), your IP address, and device and browser characteristics. We use this to measure how our advertising performs and to build audiences for future advertising. These tools do not run inside the Run This mobile app.

Meta may use this information in accordance with its own privacy policy, which you can review at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy. You can opt out of Meta’s use of your data for advertising by adjusting your ad preferences at https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences/ad_settings, or through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance’s consumer choice page.

Cookies

Cookies are files with small amounts of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier, sent to your browser from a website and stored on your device.

Like many sites, we use cookies to operate and improve the Site and our Services — for example, to keep you signed in, to understand how you use our Services, and to support analytics and marketing (including measurement some Events may use). You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent; however, if you do not accept cookies, some portions of the Site may not function.

If you enable a “do not track” signal or similar mechanism, we do not currently have practices to honor or respond to such requests; however, we only collect the types of information otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.

Payments

Payments for registrations, donations, and related purchases are handled by a PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. When you pay, your card details are collected and stored by that processor under its own security and privacy practices; we do not store your full card number on our servers. We receive and retain transaction records — such as amounts, dates, the items purchased, fees, and refund history — which we use to operate the Site, pay event organizers, handle refunds and disputes, prevent fraud, and meet our legal and tax obligations.

Run This facilitates the flow of funds between you and the Event Organization. Transaction records are business and financial records and are retained as described in “Data Retention and Account Deletion,” even if you later delete your account.

Communications and Marketing

We send two kinds of messages. Transactional and service messages — such as registration confirmations, receipts, account and security notices, refund or event-change notices, and important service announcements — are part of providing the Service and are sent to you as needed. For a donation, this includes a receipt sent to the email address you provide; when the receiving organization's 501(c)(3) status has been verified, that receipt includes tax-deductibility information (the organization's legal name, EIN, and a standard acknowledgment).

Marketing and event-relationship messages — such as reminders, invitations to future events from Event Organizations you have registered with or followed, abandoned-registration reminders, and occasional updates from Run This — are subject to your preferences. An Event Organization may also message people who took part in its past years, including years it ran on another registration platform before joining Run This (see “Information Event Organizations provide about past participants”); the basis for those messages is your registration with that organization, not with Run This. Race companies and running clubs that host events on Run This may likewise send updates about all of their events to everyone who has registered for (or RSVP'd to) any of their events; you can unsubscribe from a specific race company in the preference center. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can manage your email preferences (by category and by event) from your account’s notification settings or the preference center linked in our emails — an unsubscribe applies to these messages whether or not you have a Run This account. We use third-party email-delivery providers to send these messages.

If you opt in, we send push notifications through a third-party push provider — for example, when someone follows you, comments on your content, or an event you’re connected to posts an update. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings or your Run This notification preferences.

Event Organizations may contact participants about the Events you have registered for or shown interest in. We are not responsible for an Event Organization’s own messaging practices; contact the Event Organization directly with questions about their communications.

Content You Share and Social Features

Run This includes social features. You may create a public profile; post to your feed, to event “walls,” and to clubs and communities; comment, like, and respond to polls; join or create clubs, communities, teams, and fundraising circles; and send direct or group messages to other users. Information and content you choose to share through these features may be visible to other users, and some of it (such as your public profile, posts, and comments) may be visible to anyone and indexed by search engines.

You control parts of your visibility — for example, you can make your profile private, and you can choose what optional information to add. Direct and group messages are visible to the participants in that conversation. Please use good judgment about what you share; do not post sensitive personal information you would not want others to see.

Run This also includes an activity feed. When you save an event, register, mark that you'll be attending, or join a club or community, we may share that activity with the people who follow you, so your running community can see what everyone is up to. Your privacy settings apply — a private account's activity is shared only with approved followers — and you can turn this off completely with the “Share my activity” setting in your profile, after which only content you deliberately post is shared.

When you register for an event, you may appear on that event's public “Start Line” list — the roster other users see of who is participating — showing your display name, city/state, and the distance you entered. Your privacy settings apply: if your profile is private, your Start Line entry is hidden from users who don't follow you, and a child registered by a parent never shows the parent's photo or profile. Event results, once published by the organizer, are part of the public record of the competition.

Content you post is associated with your account. If you delete your account, your social content is removed or anonymized as described in “Data Retention and Account Deletion.”

Community Safety and Content Moderation

We want Run This to be safe and welcoming. There is no tolerance for objectionable content (including content that is harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, illegal, or otherwise abusive) or for abusive users. By using the Site you agree not to post such content or engage in such behavior.

We provide tools to help: you can block another user, which hides each of you from the other and prevents them from interacting with you and your content; and you can report content or users to us for review. We review reports and may remove content, hide or restrict content, suspend or terminate accounts, and take other action we consider appropriate. We aim to act on reports of objectionable content promptly.

To operate these safety tools and meet our legal obligations, we retain certain records of reports, blocks, and moderation actions — including, where relevant, the original content that was removed — so we can review decisions, address repeat behavior, and respond to legal requests. These safety and moderation records may be retained even after the underlying content or account is removed.

Maps and Location

We use third-party mapping and geocoding services to display event locations, build and show course maps, and help with address entry. When you use these features, limited location and address information may be processed by the mapping provider under its own privacy practices. We do not track your precise device location in the background.

When you set a location while browsing races — for example, by entering a ZIP code or choosing to share your device location in our event-discovery tools — we save the resulting city and state to your profile so we can show you races near you, and we keep the ZIP code and approximate coordinates in the protected, owner-only area of your account. We do not derive or store your street address this way. You can change or remove this location at any time in your settings.

The Way We Use Information

We use return email addresses to answer the emails we receive. In addition to the other uses described in this Policy, we may use the information we collect to:

• respond to your questions and requests, and provide customer support; • operate the Site and provide our Services to administer and facilitate your Event (for example, registration, payments, results, check-in, and event information); • process payments, payouts, refunds, and donations, and maintain financial and tax records; • send transactional messages, and — consistent with your preferences — marketing and event-relationship messages; • operate social, community, and safety features, including content moderation, blocking, and reporting; • detect, investigate, and prevent activity that may violate our policies or be illegal, and protect the rights, property, and safety of Run This, our users, and others; • comply with laws, regulations, legal processes, and law-enforcement requirements; and • optimize and improve our Services and send service announcements (for example, technical-issue notices) and notices about changes to our policies.

We will not use or share the personally identifiable information you provide in ways unrelated to those described in this Privacy Policy without giving you an opportunity to opt out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

Sharing Your Information With Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties for their own marketing.

We share information with the Event Organizations for the Events you register for or RSVP to, so they can run those Events. We also share information with the service providers that help us operate the Site — for example, hosting and infrastructure, payment processing, email and push-notification delivery, maps and geocoding, analytics and advertising, and error monitoring. These providers may only use the information to provide services to us, and are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.

Some Event Organizations hire a race-timing company through Run This. When an event you registered for has an assigned timing company, we share the registration details needed to time the race — such as your name, date of birth, gender, city/state, bib and chip assignments, check-in status, and results — with that timing company through its timing dashboard and API. This includes registrants who are minors: a date of birth is required for race timing and age-group results, and timing companies must protect minors' information under the same use-limitation and deletion obligations. Timing companies receive this information under our Timer Company Agreement, which limits their use of it to delivering timing services for that event, prohibits marketing use and resale, and requires deletion after the engagement (published race results excepted).

In the event of a sale or other change of control of our company, the terms, rights, and practices described in this Privacy Policy would transfer to the new owner, and we may provide your personal information to the purchaser so you can continue your relationship with the products and us, without separate notice to you.

We may also release your personal information (without notice to you) when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our Site policies, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Run This or others, including when we use a trusted third party to assist in investigating fraudulent or other improper use of the Site.

Data Security

Our goal is to protect the personally identifiable information you provide in the course of using our Services. We have put in place physical, administrative, and technical procedures reasonably designed to safeguard and secure the information we collect. However, despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

De-personalized Data

We may aggregate information we maintain with information about other individuals in a manner that does not disclose information specific to an individual, and/or remove characteristics that would otherwise be personally identifying. In either case we are de-personalizing the information. Unless otherwise required by law, de-personalized information is not bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy. Run This will comply with all applicable laws governing the collection, use, and disclosure of personally identifiable information.

Data From Our Prior Platform

Run This previously operated on a different technology platform. When we moved to the current platform, we carried over existing accounts and records — profiles, event registrations, results, trophies, follows, and similar history — so that nothing our users and Event Organizations had built was lost. If you had a Run This account on the prior platform, your information exists here even if you have not yet signed in on the new platform; the first time you sign in you will be asked to set a new password (we never had access to your old one). Your marketing email preferences from the prior platform were carried over. If you would like your carried-over account deleted, contact us or use the in-app deletion flow after signing in.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

You can delete your Run This account at any time from your account settings. When you request deletion, we disable your account and, after a 30-day recovery window (during which signing back in cancels the deletion), we permanently remove or anonymize your account and profile identity — including your login, username, profile details, bio, your saved bookmarks, the profile and header photos you uploaded, and your follow and block connections — and we anonymize the posts and comments you created across the app (the feed, and clubs, communities, and event pages) so they appear as from a “deleted user” rather than you. We also stop sending you marketing messages. Direct messages you sent may remain in the other participant’s conversation for their records, but appear as from a “deleted user”, and photos or videos you contributed to an event’s public gallery remain part of that event’s page; contact us if you would like help removing specific content.

Because Run This is also a registration and payment platform, deleting your account does NOT delete the records of events you registered for. Your event registrations — including the name, email address, and other details captured at the time you registered, along with waiver acknowledgements, payment and refund records, and results — are transaction records that the Event Organizations and Run This retain. We retain them for legitimate business, accounting, tax, dispute-resolution, legal, and safety reasons, and they are no longer linked to a Run This account. Past results may remain part of the public record of a competition under the name used to enter; you may contact us to request name removal from results.

If you have obligations in progress — for example, you are an organizer with live events, you have pending payouts or an affiliate balance, or you have an unresolved refund — we may ask you to resolve those before completing deletion. You may separately contact an Event Organization about records it holds, but safety, legal, financial, and tax records may be retained as permitted or required by law.

Your Privacy Rights and Choices

You can access and maintain your Personal Information by editing your profile after signing in, and you can update or correct it there. You may not update your profile with another person’s Personal Information to “transfer” your profile to another individual.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable laws — such as the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain uses. You can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message or your notification preferences, manage push notifications in your settings, and delete your account as described above. To make a privacy request or ask a question, contact us at info@runthis.run from the email address associated with your account, and describe your request. We will respond consistent with applicable law.

Children’s Privacy and Safety

Run This is designed for general audiences, and accounts must be created by individuals who meet the minimum age required by applicable law and by the App Store and Google Play. We are committed to protecting the privacy and safety of young users, including in compliance with Google Play’s Child Safety Standards and applicable App Store requirements.

Children do not have their own Run This accounts. A parent or legal guardian — or an adult they have authorized, such as a team or group leader — can manage registrations for minors through our Dependents feature, so that children who cannot manage their own accounts are supervised. When someone adds a dependent, we ask them to confirm that they are the minor’s parent or legal guardian, or an adult authorized by them, and to consent to our collection and use of that dependent’s information to register them for events, and we record that confirmation. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If we become aware that a dependent was added without proper authorization, we will take prompt steps to remove the information. If you have any concerns about your child’s data on Run This, please contact us.

Links to Third-Party Sites

To provide you with increased value, we may include third-party links on our Site. These linked sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We do not control and have no responsibility or liability for the content and practices of these linked sites. We welcome feedback about these linked sites (including if a specific link does not work).

Use By Non-US Residents

The Site is operated in the United States under United States law. If you reside in another country, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be collected and stored in the United States or other countries that may have data-privacy laws that are less protective than the laws where you reside.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date shown above. We reserve the right to update or change this Policy at any time, and you should review it periodically. Your continued use of the Site or the Services after we post modifications to this Policy will constitute your acknowledgement of the modifications and your consent to be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.
