    About This Event

Lucky Duck Trail Race is Middle Tennessee's newest trail race. It will be hosted at Henry Horton, one of TN's most underrated State Parks, along the banks of the biologically diverse Duck River.

There are two distances to pick from: a trail half marathon (~13.1 mi) or a 4-mile race. Both run the fast, runnable trails of Henry Horton, but our cutoffs are generous, so you don't actually have to go fast. Relatively flat for a trail course (at least for middle TN - it's not pancake flat like some places), this race is built for runners who want trail miles without the kind of endless climbing that turns some trail races into all-day projects. You can truly rip through these woods.

The course flows through a mix of single-track on the park's soft-surface trails and some double-track gravel (and a bit of pavement) to connect it all. The half marathon tours all of the park's main trails. There are long, buttery runnable stretches balanced with enough technical terrain to keep you honest. This course is trail PR-friendly if that's what you're after, but a fun day in the forest regardless!

October 10 puts you in the window where Middle Tennessee is at its best. Jacket-weather mornings, vacation-weather afternoons, color on the trees, and typically dry trail underfoot. Show up, run hard or party pace it, and hang at the park afterward. That's the whole pitch.

    Cut-offs:

    • Half marathon: 4.5 hours (12:30pm CDT is final finish time)

    • 4-miler: 2 hours (10am CDT is final finish time)

As a note, Henry Horton has a great restaurant on site - complete with draft beer and a full bar. It's a great place to eat after a morning on the trails. AND there is some sort of wizard or magic market going on the same day as this race so you can get your fall vibes and your Halloween spirit going.
