Welcome to the fourth year of Vulture Vista Ultra, a runner-built endurance event set inside the rugged beauty of a former limestone quarry at DePauw Nature Park in Greencastle, Indiana.
Steep climbs, wooded trails, towering limestone cliffs, and summer heat make this a race that rewards determination more than speed.
Whether you're chasing a new distance, testing your limits, running with teammates, or experiencing your first trail race, there's a place for you at Vulture Vista.

The Course
Our 4.5-mile loop takes runners through a reclaimed limestone quarry featuring towering rock walls, wooded singletrack, exposed trails, and sweeping views of the quarry cliffs.
Above it all, the turkey vultures circle, watching as runners tackle another climb, finish another lap, and find out just how far they're willing to go.
The loop format brings runners back through the central start and finish area every lap, creating an atmosphere where crews, volunteers, families, and fellow runners become part of the experience.

Choose Your Challenge
12-Hour Ultra
How far can you go in twelve hours? Run solo or with a relay team and complete as many laps as possible before time runs out.
6-Hour Ultra
Six hours to challenge yourself, find your rhythm, and discover what's possible. Solo and relay options offer something for experienced ultrarunners and first-time endurance athletes alike.
4.5-Mile Trail Run
One unforgettable loop through the quarry. Perfect for trail-running newcomers, youth athletes, and runners who want to experience Vulture Vista without committing to a timed ultra.

Vulture Vista is about more than running miles. It's about creating opportunities for others to run them, too.
A portion of proceeds supports AKC — A Kinetic Change and our local middle school and high school cross country and track programs, helping provide equipment, race opportunities, and resources for young athletes.
Our goal is simple: help these teams spend more time running, competing, and growing together, and less time raising money through car washes and other fundraisers.
