    HALF-MARATHON

    Austin's Most Scenic 13.1 Miles

    Starts at 8:00 AM — One hour before the 5K & 5-Miler

The half-marathon follows approximately ten laps of the scenic 5K lakeside course at Bob Wentz Park, totaling 13.1 miles along Lake Travis. Starting at 8:00 AM, a full hour before the shorter distances, you'll enjoy quieter paths and cooler temperatures for your early miles.

Each lap delivers stunning waterfront views of Lake Travis and the Texas Hill Country. The varied sandy terrain provides a natural training stimulus while reducing joint impact compared to road running.

    🔥 NEW FOR 2026

    THE SPEEDYARD

Six Rounds to Earn the Final Lap

9:15 AM to 12:15 PM • A shrinking clock on the 1.3 mile loop

Every round is two laps of the lakeside loop (2.62 miles). A horn sends the whole field out together. Finish inside the time window and you are in the next round. Miss it and your day is done. Whatever time you have left over is your rest, so the faster you run, the longer you recover.

Then the clock starts shrinking. Six rounds, each one tighter than the last. Everyone still standing at the end lines up for one final lap, all out, and the fastest time takes the title. The six rounds are not the race. They are how you earn the right to be on that line.

    THE CLOCK

RoundHorn everyPace to surviveClock time1 and 232:0012:13 / mile9:15 to 10:193 and 428:0010:41 / mile10:19 to 11:15524:009:10 / mile11:15 to 11:39621:008:01 / mile11:39 to 12:00FINAL LAPOne lap, all outFastest wins12:00 noon start Go all six rounds plus the final and you cover 17.03 miles. Nobody is expected to. Most of the field will not.

    ⏱

    Start Wide Open

Round 1 asks for 12:13 per mile. If you can finish a 5K, you can start this race.

    🧠

    Speed Buys Rest

Run the round in 24 minutes on a 32 minute clock and you bank 8 minutes. Run it in 31 and you get one.

    🏁

    Stop When You Choose

Every round you complete is recorded and scored. Step off at Round 3 and you still finished 7.86 miles.

    🏆

    Settled on the Line

Survive Round 6 and you start the final lap even with everyone else. One lap decides it.

    HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS

Corral start. Every round begins from the start corral on the horn. You must be in the corral when it sounds, whether you finished the last round with eight minutes to spare or eight seconds.

Two laps per round. Chip timing records both laps. Cross the line after the window closes and your race is over, no appeals, no partial credit.

Milestone recognition. Finishers are recognized at Round 2 (5.24 mi), Round 4 (10.48 mi), and Round 6 (15.72 mi). Pick your target and race to it.

The final lap. Everyone who completes Round 6 lines up at 12:00 noon for one lap, scratch start, fastest time wins. Whether you cleared Round 6 with six minutes to spare or six seconds, you start even. Margin banked in the earlier rounds buys you recovery, not a head start.

Title and Assist. The fastest final lap is the Speedyard Champion. Second across the line takes the Assist, the runner who made the champion earn it.

Aid station at the start corral, so you pass full water, electrolytes and fuel twice per round. Bring a crew chair. You will want it.

Wave 3 (The Speedyard) starts at 9:15 AM, please arrive by 8:30 AM for check in. The mandatory format briefing is at 9:05 AM in the start corral, immediately after Wave 2 departs.

Speedyard runners: the format briefing is required. If you have not run a horn start race before, this is where you learn how the corral works.

The Speedyard is capped and expected to sell out. Entry closes when the cap is reached.

Speedyard crew and drop bags are welcome in the designated corral area. Chairs, coolers and coaches encouraged.

The Speedyard is decided by the final lap at 12:00 noon, not by attrition. Every runner who completes Round 6 starts that lap from scratch. Plan your race accordingly.
