LOCATION: Granny White Park, 610 Granny White Pike, Brentwood, TN 37027 - When you enter the park, drive all the way to the back, and you will see a large pavilion on the left. Packet pickup will be in the pavilion.
RESTROOMS: There are park restrooms by the pavilion. There will also be a couple porta-potties on the other side of the 0.8-mile loop.
COURSE DESCRIPTION & WEATHER: The 0.8 mile loop is paved and circles around the beautiful Granny White Park. The 5k will be 4 loops (technically 3.2 miles), and the 10k will be 8 loops (technically 6.4 miles). If you register for the 8-hour ultra marathon, the goal is to walk, run, or ruck as many loops as you can in that time frame. The course has a few gentle hills. Temperatures range widely in the first half of November. Over the last few years, November 11th has seen temps from the 30s to the 60s.
BIBS - IMPORTANT: EVERYONE needs to have your bib on your front torso. Not on your back or leg. The number needs to be visible on the outer layer and not under any sort of pack that you have on. This is the only way that we can guarantee that your laps are counted correctly.
8-HOUR RELAY TEAMS: Only one person on each team can be on the course at any given time. You will have 1 Bib per team to share between your members. It’s easiest if you have a belt that you can put the bib on and then just share the belt. Otherwise, it will take too much time to keep pinning the bib on each person :)
INFO for the RUCKERS: You need to wear (bring your own) a rucksack/backpack with ruck plates/sandbags, etc or a weighted vest. If you are 151 lbs or greater, the pack/vest needs to weigh 20 lbs. If you are 150 lbs or less, the pack/vest needs to weigh 10 lbs. You and your pack/vest will be weighed at check-in and at the finish.
AID STATION & NURSE & HYDRATION/ENERGY: There will be 1 Aid Station on the course. Water and Gatorade will be provided. There is a large pavilion nearby where lunch will be served (for the 8-hour participants) mid-day. You can also keep any gear there. For the 8-hour participants, if you are part of a team, or are a solo runner/walker planning to take breaks, then you should bring a chair or blanket to rest on. If you have a canopy/tent that you want to set up, you are also welcome to do so.
If you find yourself with blisters, cramps, sprains or anything else where you need help, Nurse Nancy will be on-site and eager to help you! You can call her at any time from any part of the course - her number is (816) 225-6267. There will also be a stretching station provided by Camp Gladiator Instructor Gina Whitney.
