Get ready to flex your mussels for a good cause! Join the Potomac Riverkeeper Network at National Harbor for the Mussel Hustle 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run, a family-friendly celebration of clean water, healthy rivers, and the incredible creatures working hard beneath the surface!
We're running, walking, fundraising, and raising awareness for PRKN's 50 Million Mussel Project, an ambitious effort to restore native freshwater mussels to the Potomac River watershed.
Why mussels? Because these little bivalves are BIG environmental superheroes! Freshwater mussels act as natural water filters, helping remove particles from the water and supporting healthier aquatic ecosystems. Unfortunately, native mussel populations have declined due to pollution, sedimentation, and habitat loss. It's time to give these hardworking mollusks a helping hand!
Whether you're a serious runner, a casual walker, a family with little hustlers, or someone who just loves a good excuse to support the river, there's a place for you at the Mussel Hustle.
