Get ready to kick off summer at the 2nd Annual Hansen Dam Splash & Dash 5K — a one-of-a-kind community race set against the scenic backdrop of Hansen Dam Recreation Area, home to one of the largest aquatic facilities in the country. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with family and friends, or simply looking for a fun morning outdoors, this event is designed for runners of all ages and experience levels.
The day starts with a scenic run through Hansen Dam followed by an all-day pool party and community celebration featuring music, aquatic activities, vendors, raffles, and free access to the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center.
🌞 EVENT SCHEDULE
🕢 7:30 AM — Registration & Check-In Opens Arrive early, grab your bib, explore vendor booths, and get warmed up for the morning ahead.
🎧 8:00 AM — DJ & Music Begins Energy goes up as our DJs get runners and spectators hyped at the starting line and throughout the event.
🎤 8:45 AM — Opening Remarks & National Anthem Join us at the main stage as we officially kick off the inaugural Splash & Dash.
🏃 9:00 AM — 1K Fun Run Starts Perfect for youth, families, and first-time runners.
🏅 9:30 AM — 5K Race Starts Hit the course for the main event through Hansen Dam Recreation Area.
💦 10:00 AM — Pool Party & Aquatic Activities Open The race turns into a summer celebration with free pool access and activities throughout the Aquatic Center.
❤️ 10:30 AM — Hands-On CPR Demonstrations Learn valuable water safety and emergency response skills.
🚣 10:30 AM — Learn to Kayak & Surf Try beginner-friendly aquatic recreation activities led by instructors.
🤽 10:30 AM — Splash Ball Tournament Jump into the action in the Zero-Entry Zone.
🎟️ 1:30 PM — Closing Celebration & Raffles Stick around for giveaways, prizes, and a fun sendoff to cap off the day.
More than just a race, the Splash & Dash supports Citywide Aquatics programs that help provide affordable swim lessons, water safety education, and expanded access to aquatic recreation for youth and families across Los Angeles. By participating, you’re helping ensure more Angelenos can safely enjoy pools, lakes, and beaches throughout the summer season.
Hosted by the Los Angeles Parks Foundation in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, the Hansen Dam Splash 'n' Dash aims to become a new annual tradition celebrating movement, wellness, and the power of public spaces to bring communities together.
