    About This Event

    Race Through the Trees In Montour

    Experience a unique running adventure through Montour Wildlife State Park, where history meets nature. This scenic 5K course winds through the grounds of a once-thriving town, now reclaimed as a wildlife habitat. As you run, you'll be immersed by the river wildlife and forest that is has been mostly forgotten. Off the beaten path, the Sunken City Trail follows dirt and asphalt roads will little to no traffic. The actual town of Montour experienced major flooding which ultimately led to its obscurity in history. The link to the relevant race website is below.     Course Details

    The 5K route takes you on a comprehensive tour of the park's diverse terrain and habitats. The course features a mixture of surfaces designed to challenge and engage runners of all levels. 

    70% Dirt Trails: Experience authentic trail running without major hills to traverse. Some sections feature uneven terrain, dips, or small holes that require careful footwork and technical running skills. It is advised to take it slow on these sections if unaccustomed to it.  30% Asphalt Roads: Smooth paved sections provide relief from the technicality of the trails and give runners the chance to build some speed. These sections are scattered throughout the course, with the longest stretching around 1/2 mile.

    What to Expect

    Prepare for a hybrid trail running experience that goes beyond the typical road race. The varied terrain will test your agility and focus while rewarding you with stunning views of the park's wildlife and natural features. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or looking to challenge yourself on something different, this course offers the perfect blend of difficulty and scenic beauty. We hope all the racers find the natural high from such a cool running location that they will be inspired to go out and do it again.
