Please join us for the first EMILY FINN FOUNDATION's 5K RUN & WALK...in honor of Emily Teresa Finn and National Domestic Violence Month.
Beginning 9/20 @ SUNY ONEONTA - then virtual through 10/18- to our 1st in-person 5K in WEST SAYVILLE!
Beginning on Sunday, Sept. 20th @ SUNY Oneonta, led by students and members of the Terpsichorean Dance Co.,Tiffany Gardner & Ava DeMarco. Students who wish to participate will gather in Alumni Dance Studio on the SUNY Oneonta campus! We are so grateful to these amazing students for bringing us this idea and concept! They will kick off the month long virtual campaign, with their LIVE in-person campus walk to remember and honor Emily, as they help us raise awareness about teen dating violence and digital abuse.
From Sept. 20 - Oct. 18, we will host our first FREE VIRTUAL CAMPAIGN! ANYONE from ANYWHERE can participate! The goal of this is to have our message and mission reach further, while spreading awareness for our very important cause. We invite you to please share this link on your social media and ask as many people to participate in our free virtual campaign to help us raise awareness! WALK or RUN at your own pace & leisure, alone or with friends, family or even with your pets! Then take a pic and post to your social pages...& like, share and tag us @ Emily Finn Foundation, on FB & IG!
Finally, on Sunday, OCT. 18th, (commemorating Emily as forever 18) we will host our first in person 5K RUN / WALK in West Sayville @ Cherry Avenue Elementary School! Feel free to create a team or run or walk individually. This is the wonderful town and community Emily was raised in and the very school she attended while going full circle to teach in their first universal Pre-K classes. During Emily's senior year, she taught at Cherry Ave. as part of her work study in the BOCES early childhood education program. She became beloved "Miss Emily" here and found her passion for teaching and her gift for working with special needs children. Please join us for a memorable day honoring Emily's beautiful spirit and light, while creating her lasting legacy in education on subjects quite different than she thought she'd be teaching...but we now feel and know are critical...such as the dangers of DV/IPV, particularly teen dating violence, digital abuse, gun safety, social/emotional and mental wellness, and teaching our youth about healthy relationships! We have a lot of work to do and together we will!!!
