This year's event carries special significance as America celebrates 250 years of independence.
For 250 years, America's freedom has been preserved because generations of men and women voluntarily accepted the responsibility to serve, protect and defend it.
Veterans Day gives us the opportunity not only to remember that sacrifice, but to ask what responsibility freedom places on the rest of us.
The standard is not simply knowledge. It is readiness—the discipline to recognize what is required, respond when called, and execute with purpose.
That is part of what this morning represents.
We run. We walk. We ruck. We gather. We serve.
We practice health, resilience, discipline and community because freedom and independence are not merely ideas to understand—they are responsibilities to exercise.
As America enters its next 250 years, we are preparing ourselves and those around us to serve, protect and preserve freedom for another 250 years.
