Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 2, 2027, and get ready to "Get Shady KC!" This year, we are stepping up our sun-safety game to protect the skin we're in. Whether you run, walk, or jog, we are hitting the pavement to raise awareness and vital funds for melanoma prevention and research. Our 2027 theme is all about celebrating the best ways to block those rays. We’re reminding our KC community that sun protection doesn't stop at sunscreen. From throwing on your favorite pair of sunglasses to popping open a beach umbrella or seeking out a nice patch of shade during long days outdoors, taking cover is one of the coolest things you can do for your health.

The OM5K is a scenic 5K run/walk for all ages and fitness levels. Strollers and dogs on a leash are welcome. A special post-race celebration with activities for kids and families. Themed shirts and awards for top finishers. Again this year – we will have a custom Outpacing Melanoma “Finisher Medal”. 5K participants must be wearing their race bib to receive a finisher medal.

Packet Pickup: Our pre-race packet pick-up will be held at Scheels in Overland Park, Corbin Park Shopping Center. (6503 W 135th St., Overland Park, KS 66223). You will find us on the 2nd level near the elevators. Friday, May 1st - (5- 7:00 p.m.) Saturday, May 2nd - (10 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
