    About This Event

Are You BRAVE Enough to Take the Plunge?

Dare to conquer Utah’s FREEZING COLD winter weather at the Runtastic FRIGID 5K and Penguin Plunge! Kick off your year with Utah’s premier winter event! Our Beautiful, Fast, and Fun 5K course includes the Provo Delta River Trailhead, with stunning views of Utah Lake and the surrounding mountains.

Cross the finish line, then take the dare for the ultimate challenge: the Penguin Plunge! Brave the FRIGID waters of Utah State Lake for epic bragging rights!

We’ve got the coolest race goodies for you: a cozy FRIGID beanie and gloves for all race and plunge participants, a finisher medal for all 5K finishers, and a penguin keychain and plunge sticker for Penguin Plunge participants to show off your bravery!

We want to invite you and your friends and family to the 2025 FRIGID 5K and Penguin Plunge! It’s a great way to start out the year and break free from the winter running blues!

The 5K and Penguin Plunge have been the premier winter event for over a decade. After the 5K, finish the event off with the Penguin Plunge.

Challenge yourself and brave the frigid cold by jumping into the Utah Lake. Our team skillfully cuts out a square of ice and inserts a safety cage to protect you from floating under the ice or sinking. If you choose to opt-out of taking a dip in the lake, feel free to watch the faces of those who are crazy enough to take the dive!
