    About This Event

    The FUNDS go to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Scholarship Fund which has awarded over $255,000 MILLION dollars in scholarships.

    The "Stampede", a 5K run/walk, IS BACK -- The Stampede kicks off a full day of activities associated with "The Western Heritage Weekend" and the Annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, in beautiful downtown San Antonio. You will be in the middle of the action for the annual Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive, Chuck Wagon Breakfast, great entertainment in the plaza, and the annual Vaquero Cook-Off after the parade. All race proceeds go to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Scholarship Fund. As a participant you/your team will have the opportunity to run/walk through picturesque downtown, as you travel the route of the Western Heritage Parade and Cattle Drive. This run is one of only a few available to runners that actually goes through the middle of downtown San Antonio. Several activities will be taking place prior to and after at the start/finish location and after the parade join the fun at the Market Square. After the Stampede you will be able to watch the Western Heritage Parade. It's time to register yourself/ your team so you can join us for this unique opportunity to participate in this annual historical celebration.

    PLEASE NOTE THE NEW RACE START TIME -- 9AM The Parade starts at 10:50am - with the longhorns leading the parade

    The Overall Winners; the Masters Winners; and the Grand Masters WILL BE invited to RIDE IN THE WESTERN HERITAGE PARADE - BEHIND A BANNER that says STAMPEDE CHAMPIONS 

    RACE ROUTE:  2027 RACE ROUTE - we hope to keep the route we have had for the past few years. 

    It will be through Beautiful downtown and we hope to continue to incorporate the  River Walk . . Downtown construction is always an important factor - Be Careful - arrive early.

    WEB Registration closes at  10pm  02/05/2027 for the 5k run/walk; or as soon as we hit our maximum.

    Onsite/Online late registration is available online and during/at the packet pick-up locations (see below) and Onsite only under the tents beginning at 7:30 AM Saturday Feb. 6th, 2027.

    2026 PARKING was AT CATTLEMAN'S LOT - MAP BELOW.  The Parking map below is correct (even though it may have the wrong year) We are parking at the Cattleman's Lot (same as last year) LIMITED SPACE - SO IT'S FIRST COME FIRST SERVE --

    Parking Info:     CATTLEMAN'S SQUARE LOT - PARKING AVAILABLE AFTER 7AM, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1st, 2025 on a first come first serve basis   [West of 35 between Buena Vista/Leona St/W. Commerce/S. Pecos-La Trinidad St. ]

    Strollers will be allowed in the race. Animals, other than service dogs are not encouraged.

     the first 850 participants will receive the following: swag bag, shirt and medal 

    Medal  pre-race snacks/beverages post-race adult beverages and snacks

    Event FEES: No refunds - (SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS)  NO REFUNDS - Weather or otherwise 

    Teams- minimum of 10 runners will receive a $5 discount (once you reach 10 runners, you will get a $5 refund). 

    LATE REGISTRATION...(STARTS 10:01 pm February 5, 2027)  Event FEES: No refunds  NO REFUNDS. Weather or otherwise 

    VIRTUAL RUN: a Virtual Run is FUN if you are not able to make it to the event.  We APPRECIATE your support from all of those far away states!!!  We think you are amazing!!   We will be happy to mail your Race Kit - please send pictures.   PACKETS WILL BE MAILED the week of  February 1st, 2027.  HOW DOES A VIRTUAL RUN WORKS:

    *Run solo or with your family. 

    • Find your favorite place to run and enjoy your race, it can be your block, a park or just a place you feel comfortable running. If you don't have a garmin to measure the 5K, download STRAVA on your phone. 

    • Once you have completed your race, submit your results and photos. Submitting results is optional. 

    Event Awards:  Awards for age category winners, both Male and Female in the following categories:                0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-99.

    Overall winners, both Female and Male, will receive a special Bronze Longhorn trophy and a gift certificate to BOOT BARN. AND THEY WILL RIDE IN THE PARADE. 

    Bronze Bull 'Standing Tall' Trophy for "Masters" (runners age 40 and up) both Female and Male and a gift certificate to BOOT BARN. AND THEY WILL RIDE IN THE PARADE.

    POPULAR DEMAND:  WE HAVE ADDED THE GRAND MASTERS AWARD (runners age 65 and up)
