    About This Event

Absolutely. I’d make the “WE’RE BACK!” message one of the first things people see and remove the outdated COVID language. Here’s a refreshed 2026 version:

BACK THE BADGE 5K RUN/WALK IS BACK! OCTOBER 31, 2026 After taking a year off, BACK THE BADGE 5K is officially returning!

We missed seeing our runners, walkers, families, supporters, and community come together—and this year, we’re ready to make our return bigger and more memorable than ever.

Join us on Saturday, October 31st for the return of the Back the Badge 5K Run/Walk, supporting our Kendall County Law Enforcement Agencies.

Whether you've participated with us before or this will be your first Back the Badge 5K, we invite you to come out, enjoy a beautiful Texas Hill Country course, and help us show our law enforcement community just how much support stands behind the badge.

5K RUN/WALK This event welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities, with awards presented across a wide range of age categories, including:

Overall Awards Masters Awards Age Group Awards RACE DAY Packet Pick-Up: Race Day Only Race Day Registration Opens: 6:15 AM Opening Ceremonies: 7:00 AM 5K Run/Walk: Following Opening Ceremonies

Participants will receive a Back the Badge Race Shirt and Finisher Medal.

A BEAUTIFUL TEXAS HILL COUNTRY COURSE Nestled among the hills of Boerne, the Cibolo Nature Center provides a beautiful setting for one of the area's most unique 5K experiences.

Participants will experience a variety of running surfaces throughout the course. The race begins at the Kendall County Fairgrounds on dirt before continuing down the paved Rails for Trails #9 Line and eventually entering the soft, well-maintained trails of the Cibolo Nature Center.

Don't let the word "trail" discourage you!

These are wide, well-maintained and highly walkable trails regularly enjoyed by area residents. The course was selected specifically to give participants a variety of surfaces while showcasing the beautiful scenery of the Texas Hill Country.

Runners and walkers are equally welcome.

Well-mannered, leashed dogs are welcome to participate.

Strollers are also welcome. We simply ask participants with strollers to be courteous and give runners the right-of-way when necessary.

MORE THAN A 5K — IT'S ABOUT SUPPORTING THOSE WHO SERVE Back the Badge is about bringing our community together.

By registering, participating, volunteering, donating, or simply coming out to support the event, you are helping continue our mission of supporting Kendall County Law Enforcement Agencies and the men and women who serve our community.

After a year away, we cannot wait to bring everyone together again.

ONE YEAR OFF. NOW WE'RE BACK.

    October 31, 2026.

Come run. Come walk. Bring the family. Support our local law enforcement.

BACK THE BADGE 5K IS BACK! Follow our event on Facebook under "Back the Badge 5K" for updates and announcements.

We'll see you at the START/FINISH LINE!

RAIN OR SHINE POLICY The Back the Badge 5K will be held rain or shine. Registration fees are non-refundable, and we sincerely thank you for your registration and support.

In the event of wet or muddy conditions, portions of the course may be altered when necessary to help protect participants from injury and preserve the trails and natural areas of the Cibolo Nature Center.

Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and stewardship of this beautiful Hill Country property.
