    Participant Feedback

    “

A two-mile grass loop through 120 acres of forest and open field, run under a cutoff that gets one minute shorter every single lap. Forty-five minutes for the first. Fifteen for the thirty-first. Seven laps is a half marathon, fourteen is a marathon, sixteen is a 50K, twenty-five is fifty miles, and thirty-one is 100K. The clock decides when you are done, not you.

    Course or Race Highlight

The format is what makes this race. Early laps feel generous — 45 minutes for two miles is a walk in the park, and it very nearly is one. But the window closes a minute at a time, and somewhere in the afternoon the math stops being theoretical and starts being the only thing you can think about. Miss a cutoff and it is over: ring the cowbell, turn in your bib, and go cheer for whoever is still out there.

The course itself is grass trails with rolling hills, open fields, and sections of shade, winding among red cedar and maple through the preserve. You may see white-tailed deer, a box turtle, or a fox. Note that there is NO WATER OR POWER ON SITE, so plan your crew setup accordingly. Bring a tent, a camp chair, and your support crew — Friday evening setup begins at 5:00 PM and overnight camping is available.

    Lap Cutoffs

Every lap allows one minute less than the one before it — 45 minutes for the first, 15 for the thirty-first. The pace column is what that cutoff works out to per mile on the two-mile loop. Miss a cutoff and your race is complete: ring the cowbell, turn in your bib, and cheer on whoever is still out there.

    Parking

Right on site at the address listed, with opportunities to park along the course, or, if you are running late, in the lot adjacent to the start/finish line less than 100 meters away. There is a $5 fee paid during registration that covers this, so nothing is owed on race day.

    Aid Stations

A simple but effective ultra-running aid station at the barn, which is also the start/finish, reached every two-mile lap. Participants are welcome to bring and share their favorite aid station snacks.

    Last Runner Standing

Age Group Awards (Male & Female)

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each of 15 age categories will earn an age group medal — a custom piece to add to your finisher's lanyard at the end of the event.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

No. All bibs are picked up on site throughout the day.

    Is there race-day registration?

Yes, but it still needs to be done online on your mobile device.

Is there gear check or somewhere to leave personal items?

Personal items, gear check, and drop bags can go inside the barn between laps, and you are welcome to set up a personal tent in Tent City adjacent to the barn at the start/finish of the two-mile loop.

Are there restrooms near the start/finish?

Yes, right at the start/finish lines.

Will I get a medal or a shirt?

All finishers get a medal as long as you complete the minimum 10K distance. Shirts can be ordered from our store page.

What happens if there's bad weather?

Upstate Race Series races run rain or shine. In the event of lightning, extreme heat, or hazardous winter conditions, we'll post an update on this page and email registered runners as early as possible. Entry fees aren't refunded for weather delays — see Managing Your Registration below.

    Can spectators come watch?

Spectators are welcome. Runner parking fills up race morning — if you're only here to cheer, plan for overflow parking nearby. You'll see your runner pass by every lap.

When will results and photos be available?

Live results post to the RunSignUp results page as each runner finishes. Free event photos are usually up within 48–72 hours on our Facebook page — we'll tag the album so it's easy to find.
