The Run This Timer API: Built To Power Timing Teams

Timing teams turn registrations into results. To support their work, we are launching the Run This Timer API so timing companies can access the registration data they need directly from Run This. No exporting. No file sharing. No extra steps for directors.

    What this does

Each timing company receives one API key. With that single key, they can access any event that has added them as a timer on Run This. The timing team calls the API whenever they need data and receives a clean JSON response based on what is in the event at that moment.

    • Retrieve all registrants for the full race
    • Retrieve registrants for specific sub events
    • Optionally request only athletes marked as checked in using a parameter
    • Receive structured JSON that fits into existing timing software workflows

    Why it matters

Directors stay focused on the event while timing companies pull the data they need on demand. There is less coordination, fewer outdated files, and a clearer path from registration to official results.

The API reflects the current state of the event at the time of the request. Timing teams simply run the call whenever they need fresh data for their workflow.

    How to get started

Timing companies can create their Timer Company profile at runthis.run/timer.

Once created, directors can add them as a timer to any event. The timer then uses their single API key to request data for that event using the documented endpoints.

The Run This Timer API is available now for timing companies working with events on our platform.
