Finding communities

Open My groups from the sidebar to see the communities you belong to, then tap Find more communities. The Communities page shows yours up top and a Discover grid below. Tap one to open its page.

What's on a community page

• Clubs: running clubs in the area. Clubs auto-appear based on their location; admins can also feature ones that belong.
• Local Events: upcoming races in and around the area.
• Discussion: posts from members. Any member can post, like, and comment, and like or reply to individual comments too (some communities have admins approve posts first).
• Members: everyone who follows the community. On the website, type a name in the search box to find anyone.

Discussion posts

Posts on the Discussion tab show newest first. The one post an admin pinned stays at the top with a Pinned label. Posts look and work the same on the website and in the Run This app.

To post, members tap Post to the community at the top of the Discussion tab. It opens the same composer as The Feed: up to 10 photos, a poll or a race card, link previews, @mentions, a Question button, a draft saved on your device, and 15 minutes to edit your post afterwards. • Like: tap the heart, or double-tap the post or one of its photos. Tap the heart again to take your like back.
• Polls: members tap a choice to vote, then see the results. You can change or undo your vote until it closes. Votes are private: everyone sees the counts, nobody (not even the admins) sees who voted. The person who asked or a community admin can pick End poll now in the ••• menu. See Polls.
• See who liked it: tap the number next to the heart, on a post or on a comment.
• Comments: tap a post (or its comment count, or its time) to open it with its comments, oldest first. Tap Reply under a comment to answer it. Replies sit under the comment they answer, and View more replies shows the rest when there are several.
• More options: tap the ••• button on a post or comment, or press and hold it on a phone. From there you can copy a link to the post, hide it, report it, or block its author. On your own post or comment you can delete it.
• Turn off comments: on your own post, pick Turn off comments in the ••• menu. Comments already there stay, and nobody can add new ones until you pick Turn comments back on.
• Hide this post removes it for you only. It stays hidden everywhere you sign in, on the website and in the app.

Joining a community

Tap Join community on its page. It's instant. You can Leave anytime.

Notifications. New posts in a community don't notify you until you ask. Tap the bell on the community page and pick All posts or Announcements only (posts from its admins), or leave it Off. See Club and community notifications.

How clubs & races show up

Each community has a center point and a radius. Any club or race within that radius appears automatically, no one has to add it. A club shows up once it has a city and state set (clubs can add that on their edit page; it's optional). Community admins can also feature a club or race that's farther out, or hide one that doesn't belong.

Starting a community

Communities are run by Run This, so you request one rather than create it directly. Tap Request a community from the Communities page and tell us the city or area. Once it's approved we set it up and add you as an admin.

Admins

Community admins edit the community's details, set its center and radius, moderate posts (including the optional approval queue), manage members, and feature or hide clubs and events. Run This staff can seed official metros and approve new community requests.

On any post, an admin can open the ••• menu to Pin to the top of the wall (or unpin it), turn its comments off, or remove a member's post. There is one pinned post at a time: pinning a new one unpins the old one. A member whose post is removed gets a notification saying an admin removed it. Admins can also delete any comment.

A post waiting in the approval queue is seen only by its author and the admins. An admin approves or declines it, and the member gets a notification either way. Once approved, it shows on The Feed like any other community post, from the member who wrote it, and anyone tagged in it gets a mention notification. A declined post is deleted.

A race's director can remove a community's pin from their race. After that, the community can't pin the race again unless the director restores it.
