For race directors
Race photos
Post your race-day photos on Run This for free. Runners browse them on your event page, download them and share them, with your race or sponsor logo in the corner.
Which races get photos
Race photos are for events that register on Run This. Each year of your race has its own photos, so last year's albums stay put when you renew.
Open the page
From your event's director dashboard, click Race photos in the sidebar, under Race day. If your race has past years, pick the year at the top.
Logos on photos
Click Logos on photos to open it (when it's closed, its bar shows what is set). Choose your race logo, one of your sponsors' logos, or both, and the corner they go in. The preview next to the settings shows exactly how they will look, on one of your photos or, before you have any, on a sample photo. Press Save logos.
Set your logos before you upload
Albums
Photos live in albums, like Start line, On course and Finish line. Press New album, give it a name, and add the photographer's name and Instagram handle so they get credit on the album. Drag albums to change their order. The album's earliest photo is its cover until you pick one.
Uploading photos
Pick the album
Click the album you want to add to.Pick photos or a whole folder
Use Pick photos or Pick a folder, or drop them on the box. You can add hundreds or thousands at once. JPEG, PNG, WebP and iPhone photos all work. RAW camera files need exporting as JPEG first.Check the first photo
You see your first photo exactly as runners will, logos and all.Confirm and upload
Tick the box confirming you took the photos or have the photographer's permission, then press Upload. Keep the page open until it says All done.
Each photo is resized to 2,048 pixels on your own computer before it uploads, so big camera files go up quickly, and the hidden location data phones and cameras add is removed. If you close the page partway, pick the same folder again: photos already uploaded are skipped.
Upload links for photographers
Send a photographer or volunteer a link and they can add photos to one album from their phone or computer, with no Run This account. Pick the album, click Upload links for photographers (just under the upload box) to open it, type who it's for and press Create upload link; the link is copied for you. Links work for 14 days, and you can turn one off at any time. Photos they add are hidden until you publish, like yours.
Moving and deleting photos
- The album's photos are tucked away so a big album doesn't fill the page. Click the bar with the album's name and photo count to show them.
- Click photos to select them, or use Select all.
- Move to another album, Delete, or, with one photo selected, Make cover.
- Deleting an album deletes its photos and turns off its upload links.
Publishing
Nothing is public until you press Publish photos. Then a Race photos card appears on your event page and a Race photos link on your results page. Photos you add later appear right away. Press Hide photos to take the whole year down again; nothing is deleted.
The event page card shows a few of the photos and opens the Photos page. In the Run This app, the same card is on your race's screen. To leave it off your event page (and the app), turn off Show photos on the event page on the Race photos page. The Photos page and the link on your results page still work.
The Photos pages wear your race's look: the header photo and logo from Page style and images on your event dashboard, in the same Ticket or Overlap style as your event page. At the bottom, runners can Save your race, so they hear when you open registration for next year (as long as Announce when registration opens is on). Once next year's registration is open, it shows a Register button instead.
Run This doesn't email runners when photos go up. To tell them, send an email from Emails, then Create new email, to your current registrants.
Numbers for your sponsors
Once published, the Race photos page shows how many times your albums were viewed and how many photos were downloaded, with a link to the public page.
When someone asks for a photo to come down
Runners can ask for a photo of themselves to be removed with Report or remove on the photo, and Run This reviews those requests. You can also delete any of your photos yourself at any time.
How many photos
Each race year can hold up to 5,000 photos. If you need more, contact Run This.
