For race directors
Signup form for your website
Put a small email signup box on your own site. Everyone who uses it lands on your Run This email list, ready to receive your next race announcement.
Setting it up
Open your club, choose Manage club, then the Email list tab. The builder is at the top.
- Pick a heading from the ready-made lines or write your own, and add a smaller description under it if you want one. Leave the heading blank for just a field and a button.
- Change the placeholder (the grey text in the empty field) and the button label.
- Choose a size. Standard suits most pages, Compact fits a footer, and Stacked works in a narrow sidebar.
- Set light, dark, or let it match whatever the visitor's device is set to. Pick a button colour to match your brand, and choose rounded or pill corners.
- Or choose Transparent, which draws no box at all so the form sits directly on your own page. Best if you already have a coloured section, like a dark footer. See below.
- Press Turn on, then Copy snippet and paste it into your website wherever you want the form to show.
Turn it on before you paste it
The preview in the builder is the real thing, running the same code your website will, so what you see is what your visitors get.
Where it works
Anywhere you can add a line of HTML: Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, or a hand-built site. It is one script tag and it loads nothing else, so it will not slow your page down.
The form brings its own styling and is sealed off from the rest of your site, so it cannot break your layout and your site's styles cannot break it.
What happens when someone signs up
- They go straight onto your list. No confirmation email, so nobody drops out between signing up and being on it.
- We record when they signed up and which page they signed up on. That is your answer if anyone ever asks why they are hearing from you.
- Someone who previously unsubscribed is not put back on the list, even if they use the form again.
- They appear in your Email list tab straight away, marked as coming from your signup form.
Colours
The form has no background of its own. It sits straight on your page and picks up whatever is already behind it, so it looks like part of your site rather than a box pasted on top of it. There are three colours to set, and you can leave all three alone.
- Text is the heading and the description. Leave it on "Match my site" and the form uses whatever text colour your page already has, which also means it follows your site into dark mode on its own.
- Field is the box people type into. White suits most pages. Choose No fill and it becomes an outline only, which is the one to use in a dark or strongly coloured footer.
- Button is the button. Any colour you like.
Whatever you pick, the text inside the field is worked out from the field's own colour rather than the page's, so you can never end up with pale text in a white box that nobody can read what they've typed in.
The preview lets you set the colour behind the form, either from the swatches or your own colour, so you can check it against the background it will actually sit on rather than against the dashboard's. That part is only for checking, it is not in the snippet.
The button label
The label is white by default, on the same green Run This uses on its own buttons. Switch it to Dark if that reads better on your brand colour, or Auto to let us pick whichever of the two is easier to read.
Under the choice we show how the label measures against your button colour. Anything below 4.5 to 1 gets a warning, because that is the point where people start finding it hard to read. A pale brand colour with a white label is the usual way to land there, and Auto fixes it.
Turning it off
Switching the form off stops it accepting signups immediately, even if the snippet is still on your website. Everyone already on your list stays there. Turn it back on any time.
