Waitlists
When a distance you want is sold out, you can join its waitlist for free. You fill in the registration form now, and if a spot opens for you, we email you and send a notification. Claiming it is just the waiver and payment.

Find the distance
On the race page, a sold-out distance says Sold out. Waitlist open. Tap it, then Join the waitlist. You can also pick it from the distance list while you register.Pick who it's for
Yourself, a family member you manage, or someone you're connected with on Run This. Each person gets their own place in line.Fill in the form
The same details as registering: name, birthday, address, emergency contact, and any questions the race asks people on its waitlist. No waiver and no payment.Tap Join the waitlist
That's it. We email you to confirm.
Some races offer spots in order, and the race page shows your place (“#6 in line”). Others let the race director choose who gets each spot, and the page says so.
In the Run This app
Put everyone in one registration. People on distances with room register and pay as usual. People on a sold-out distance show Waitlist with no price and skip the waiver.
They go in line the moment you tap Pay, so their place is saved even if your card is declined. If nobody in the registration has a distance with room, the last button says Join the waitlist and there's nothing to pay.
Some races have no open registration. Everyone joins the waitlist with the form, and the race director reads the answers and picks who gets in (sometimes at random). The race page button says Join the waitlist, and the race page says “Entry by selection.” If you're picked, you get an offer the same way as below.
Open the race page and tap the distance. Next to your place, tap Edit answers, change what you need and tap Save my answers. You keep your place in line.
You get an email, a push notification and a message in your Run This inbox. The race page shows A spot opened up with a deadline.
- Tap Claim spot. The form starts from what you filled in to join, so you only add anything the race asks at this point (a shirt size, say), sign the waiver and pay. You pay the price in effect when you claim.
- Don't want it? Tap No thanks so the next person gets it sooner.
- You get one reminder halfway through. If the time runs out, the spot goes to the next person in line.
- If you put someone in line who has their own Run This account, you both get the offer, and either of you can claim it.
How long you have
If you say no thanks or the time runs out, you come off the list. You can rejoin from the race page, at the back of the line.
At races that allow one distance per person, registering for a distance takes you off every other line at that race. At races that let you run more than one, you keep your other places.
Open the race page, tap the distance, and tap Leave next to your place.
