For timer companies
Connect RACE RESULT
If you score races in RACE RESULT 14, Run This can send a race's runners straight into your RACE RESULT event and bring your results back, with no files to download and import.
How it works
You create two links in your RACE RESULT event and paste them into the race’s RACE RESULT page on your timer dashboard. Run This sends your runners to the first link and reads your results from the second.
- Runners go to RACE RESULT when you click Send all runners now. After that first send, new registrations and changes (a new bib, a name fix, a distance switch, a cancellation) go to RACE RESULT within about a minute.
- Results come back when you click Get results now, or once a minute during a time window you set.
- Results stay hidden until you or the race director publish them on Race Results. Getting results never emails or notifies runners.
Only the owner and admins of the race’s assigned timer company can see and change the RACE RESULT page.
Before you start
- A RACE RESULT 14 event for the race, with a contest for each distance. These steps are for RACE RESULT 14.
- Bibs assigned in Run This. RACE RESULT matches runners by bib, so a runner without one waits and goes to RACE RESULT as soon as they get a bib. See Bib assignments.
- Contests that accept the gender codes m, f and a (a is how RACE RESULT takes non-binary).
Send your runners
Add the registration ID field in RACE RESULT
In your RACE RESULT event, open Basic Settings, then Participants Data, then Additional Fields, and add a Text Box named
RunThisRegistrationID. Run This fills it with each runner’s registration ID, so results come back matched to the right runner even when a bib changes.Create the runner link
In your RACE RESULT 14 event, open Basic Settings, then Access Rights / Simple API. Under Custom API, add one of type Insert / Update Participants, and copy its link.
Paste it into Run This
Open the race on your timer dashboard and click RACE RESULT. Click Runner link, paste the link and save.
Match each distance to its contest
Click Distances and type each distance’s RACE RESULT contest ID, from your event’s contest settings. Leave a distance blank to keep its runners out of RACE RESULT.
Send all runners
Click Send all runners now. From then on, Run This keeps RACE RESULT up to date by itself.
If RACE RESULT can’t take a send (for example while your event is checked out to work offline), the RACE RESULT page shows what went wrong, and Run This tries again. Anything that didn’t go waits for the next send.

What Run This sends
- Bib, first name and last name.
- Gender: m, f, or a for non-binary. A runner who chose not to say is sent with no gender.
- Date of birth. RACE RESULT counts ages by your event’s own settings.
- Contest, team (as Club), city, and state (as State2).
- Chip (as Transponder1), only when Run This has one. A chip you assigned in RACE RESULT is never cleared.
- The registration ID, in RunThisRegistrationID.
Run This never sends email, phone, street address or payment details.
Fixes only you can make in RACE RESULT
RACE RESULT keeps one runner per bib, and the runner link can add and update runners but not remove them. So the RACE RESULT page lists what to fix by hand:
- A runner moved to a new bib: delete the old bib in RACE RESULT.
- A registration was canceled after it was sent: delete that bib in RACE RESULT.
- Two runners share one bib (a relay team on one number): only one of them was sent.
When you’re done, click I’ve fixed these to clear the list.
Bring results back
Make a results list in RACE RESULT
Make an output list with these columns: RunThisRegistrationID, Bib, Rank, Time and StatusText (the status as text, such as DNF or DNS). Keep runners who didn’t finish or start in the list, so their status comes through. One list can cover every contest.
Create the results link
Under Basic Settings, Access Rights / Simple API, add a link of type Lists, pick that list, and set the format to JSON. Copy its link.
Paste it into Run This
On the RACE RESULT page, click Results link, paste the link and click Check link. Check which column is which, then click Save columns.
Get results
Click Get results now, or click Automatic results and pick a start and end time (up to 12 hours, in the race’s time zone). Run This reads your list once a minute in that window.
How results are matched
- Each row is matched to a runner by the registration ID first, then by bib. A row that matches nobody is still saved, under its bib.
- A row with no time and no status yet (a runner still on course) is skipped until it has one.
- If you or the director fix a result on Race Results, later reads leave that result as you left it.
- Relay and team distances aren’t brought back. Upload their results on Race Results.
- If a distance also has results from a file upload, the Stopwatch or the Timer API, delete those so runners aren’t listed twice.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect RACE RESULT at the bottom of the page. Run This stops sending runners and reading results, and forgets both links. Results already saved stay in Race Results, and nothing in your RACE RESULT event is deleted.
A new timing company, or a new year of the race, starts with no connection.
