Publishing your event

The go-live checklist

When you click Publish, Run This validates your event against a checklist before letting it go live. Anything missing shows up in a dialog with a "Fix →" link to the right editor card.

The blockers (Publish disabled until these are resolved):

• A description on the event.
• A start date in the future.
• A street address with city and state.
• A contact phone number Run This can reach.
• For Run This-registration events: a registration opens date and a registration closes date (Edit event, Registration window). Registration stays open until the exact closes time you set, even on race morning, so pick the real cutoff.
• For Run This-registration events: at least one sub-event, and a price (or Free entry) on every one of them.
• For Run This-registration events: no link in Links & socials may be a registration site, including your Website link. If people register somewhere else, the event should be set to registration on a different site instead.
• For events that register on a different site: the link athletes get sent to.

Above the Publish button, Run This states in one line what the Register button on your page will do: open Run This checkout, or open your registration link. Read it before you publish. If it is not what you expect, the event was created with the wrong registration choice.

The warnings (Publish allowed; we just nudge you):

• No header image uploaded.
• No event icon uploaded.
• No tagline set.

When you publish

1. Click Publish

   The Publish dialog opens. Validation runs against your current state.

2. Fix anything blocking

   Each blocker has a "Fix →" link that takes you to the right editor card. Address it, come back, click Publish again.

3. Confirm

   Once nothing's blocking, the Publish button enables. Click it. Your event goes live; we stamp the publish timestamp.

After publishing

Your event page is now public. Anyone with the URL can view it. Athletes can bookmark it, share it, and register. Public events also appear in race discovery on the Run This Races page.

Need a code for flyers or race-day signs? Open the event's director dashboard and click QR code in the menu. You can copy the public link or download a PNG of the official Run This QR code.

Visibility: public or private

Independent of publish state, every event has a visibility setting (Edit event → Other options → Visibility & discovery):

• Public (default). Anyone can find it in search, event lists, athletes' public profiles, and Google.
• Private: works exactly like a public event for anyone who has the link. They can open the page, register, and share it. It just stays out of Run This search, event lists, and public profiles, and search engines like Google are asked not to list it. Use it for club runs, invitation-only events, or anything you only want to share by link.
